Jan stewart -
Producing Director
Jan is a lawyer by day, but music is his passion. He has always felt very comfortable around the theatrical stage because his parents were both opera singers; he spent many hours around the theatre.
In March of 2008 Jan began a journey that become his epiphany. He attended a production of the Musical Closer Than Ever at St. Michael’s College in Burlington, VT. It was an excellent production. The director of the show, her staff and cast welcomed and included Jan in their pre-performance rituals. Jan found many of these rituals moving and inspiring . . .he learned there was a patron saint of Theatre Artists, St. Geneseius.
The journey of Jan’s epiphany that started in Burlington continued for several months. During that time he experienced introspection and inspiration. He knew that he was about to embark on a life mission radically different from any previously pursued. It came to him that he would be producing high quality professional musical theatre.
Jan named the company, LIMELIGHT Theatre. His friends and associates rallied behind him and were eager to help with the production company. Jan’s universe understood and supported his epiphany.
Jan has practiced estate-planning law in Olney for over 30 years; he lives in Rockville. In addition to has passion for musical theatre, and most of the classical arts, he also sings in the Rockville Chorus, has produced many piano recitals, is an avid tennis player, and loves to hike and cycle. Jan has 2 wonderful children: Nathan, who is a headhunter working for TEK Systems, and Hannah who is studying to be a Vet Tech in Pittsburgh.
